Quick Video of New Walkthrough Mode
Enabling Walkthrough Mode
Walkthrough mode allows you to create a step-by-step work order submission process, rather than having everything on one single page.
To enable walk through mode, you will need the manage site settings administrative permission on your user account.
To find this setting, navigate to Settings -> Manage Request Types -> Edit (pencil icon) for the specific request type.
Once you're on the edit request type page, scroll down to the "Walkthrough Mode" toggle switch.
Select the toggle switch to enable walkthrough mode for this request type.
Setting Up Request Categories
Request Categories are required when enabling walkthrough mode for a request type.
- With Request Categories you can customize each step in the work order path to ensure when the work order is submitted, the administrators have as much information needed and the right people are assigned/notified of the work order.
- Request Categories can be seen as a hierachy and they can have unlimited levels.
To setup Request Categories:
1. Navigate to Settings -> Manage Request Types, select the icon
2. Select the button to add a new request category
3. (Required) Enter a Name for the Request Category.
4.Enter a Quick Request Name.
- This is not a required field.
- Entering a Quick Request Name will make this Request Category a one click way to quickly submit a work order for this request category. This can be a quick and efficient way for users to submit work orders (with less clicks) to submit common work orders at your district.
5. Select the button to upload an image from your local files for the request category
- This is not required, but a recommendation to help requestors see a visual icon to associate the category of the issue to.
- A placeholder "folder" stock image will populate any time you create a new request category
6. Select and you now have your request category created!
7. Drag and drop the request category to its appropriate place in the request category tree/hierarchy
- Below is a quick video example to demonstrate a newly made request category "Touchscreen Not Working" and then dragging it to be nested within the "Device / Hardware" -> "Chromebook" Request Category Path
Copying Request Categories

- Select the Copy Button

- Select Save!
Custom Fields on each Request Category
Custom fields can be applied to each request category level so that a work will display only the necessary fields for the issue at hand
Each Request Category will inherit all parent request category fields
- For example, in a top-level request category called "Device/Hardware," you may have a custom field for "Have you tried restarting your device?", for any request categories nested within "Device/Hardware" the "Have you tried restarting your device?" field will always display as selected
To Add a Custom Field to a Request Category:
- Select the Request Category
- In the Unselected column, left mouse click the field you want selected
- Drag and drop the field over to the Selected column
- You can also sort the field order in the selected column using a drag-and-drop workflow
