Troubleshooting Active Directory: Determining what filters to use to import users

While configuring the Active Directory Integration with ML Work Orders, you will want to determine the appropriate filters to use in order to import your users. If you are having trouble determining which filters to use and are receiving the following message, there are several things you can check:

Note: The filters will be configured under Settings > Single Sign on > Active Directory Filters.

1. Make sure you do not have any broader filters you can use to attempt to pull in users (sometimes, the filter is just to narrow).

2. Verify the LDAP port (389) is open, as the import of users is done over this port.

Note: If you are using LDAPS and not using the automatic sync, you can close this port once the users are imported.

3. If the port is open, see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/adexplorer to download a tool to help you find your Active Directory Filters.

Note: If you locate the "distinguishedname" under the "Attribute" column, you should be able to locate the appropriate filter under the corresponding "Values" column.

4. If you are still unable to determine the correct filters, send a screenshot of your Active Directory tree opened, along with the filters you are attempting to use to mlw@masterlibrary.com.
